Moments make up my time

while time passes by, overhead

slow,

and slowly I meld

with the evening sunlight

passing through your auburn hair.

How it burns!

Turns out, I tremble and smile

whenever you sing off key,

pretending to know

when and where you went wrong.

I don’t need to rectify you.

I lay, mesmerized.

I make believe you,

the way you made me believe

I might have been in love

before, how else would I’ve known,

without you leading me,

loving me so.

Somewhere, I recall a memory.

A quiet passing of a twilight moon

while I lay underneath,

staring at the starless skies

stretched across like a pale canvas;

I melt inside.

Don’t bother to wake me up.

Sweet slumber I surrender.

Bucolic babe, I dream you away.

Warm by the fireside,

I tuck my soul closer inside,

to dream with you,

dream my life away.
